Albert Bennion Christman, 94 of Orem, Utah passed away Friday, September 20, 2019.
Albert was born November 21, 1924 in Cargile, Union, Arkansas the son of Vivan and Mamie Powell Thompson Christman. He was raised in Williamson Settlement, Orange, Texas and attended school in Vidor.
He later went on to graduate from Brigham Young University, where he met his sweetheart Marva Hopkins. Albert married Marva in the Logan Temple on July 10th, 1946.They raised their family in Soda Springs, Idaho. They moved to Orem, Utah in 2002.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many leadership callings, including Bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, and counselor in a mission presidency. Albert and Marva served LDS missions in Dublin, Ireland; Louisville, Kentucky, and on Temple Square. Albert spent his life farming in Soda Springs, Idaho. He loved the outdoors especially hunting, and spending time with his family. He loved his country and served as a Marine during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his three sons and five daughters. Merriola (Wally) Black of Layton, UT; Alberta (Berti) Loken of Vidor, TX; Vivan (Marina) Christman of Fredricksburg, VA; Naoma (Lorey) Draper of Orem, UT; Odell (Tami) Christman of Soda Springs, ID; Van (Ellie) Christman of Rexburg, ID; Coleen (Bart) Benson of Grace, ID; Tammie (John) Applegarth of Herriman, UT. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and his older sister Norma Black. He was preceded in death by his wife Marva H. Christman, son Marvin Christman, brother David and a sister Margie.
Viewing will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at the Cascade Stake Center 481 East Center Street Orem, Utah. There will also be a viewing on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Bailey Creek Chapel 361 South 3rd East, Soda Springs, Idaho. The funeral will follow on Saturday, 12-1pm in Soda Springs Bailey Creek Chapel. Burial and a military salute will be held at the Soda Springs Fairview Cemetery.
