Obituary

Arline "Artie" Gertrude Grant Rasmussen, died December 29, 2010 in Bear Lake Memorial Hospital after a heroic battle with kidney disease.

She was born October 13, 1928 to Donald Findley and Helena Grace McFarlane Grant in Elgin, Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada. She had a happy childhood and was her daddy's girl.

After graduating from Athelstan Academy, she worked in Montreal as a draftsman. While there she met a handsome sailor from Idaho named Gene Rasmussen. They were married May 9, 1953 and she left her home in Quebec to start her new life in the west. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.

Artie loved Gene, her wonderful Mom-in-law and new sisters in Idaho. She cherished her family, neighbors and many friends. And everybody loved Artie. They inherited the opportunity to be the caretakers of the Lago Cemetery and many of the grandkids learned how to drive on the cemetery lawnmower. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the Pink Ladies at Caribou Memorial. She was actively involved with the American Legion Auxiliary for years and looked forward weekly to her Mondays with the Williams Ward quilting group.

She raised three pretty good kids, lots of beautiful gardens, enjoyed every one of her grandkids, and only in the fall did she miss the leaves and lush landscape in Quebec.

She is survived by her loving husband Gene, two daughters Karen and Randy Beckstead of Whitney, ID; and Beth Rasmussen of Soda Springs, ID; and a daughter-in-law Cathy and the late Grant Rasmussen of Grace, ID. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and their spouses, fourteen great-grandchildren, her brother Donald Grant and sister-in-law Helen Horsley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Grant, her great-grandson Zach and two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Noon at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel in Niter. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Church and on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Lago Cemetery.
