Barbara King Gilbert, 62, passed away at her home in Bancroft surrounded by her family and beloved friends on Friday, June 5, 2015. Barbara was born April 26, 1953 in Pocatello; the fourth of five daughters of Lowell D. and Dorothy Ellen (Parrish) King. She graduated from Aberdeen High School and attended Idaho State University where she met her "blonde haired cowboy" Dean S. Gilbert. They were married and sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 28, 1972 and they made their home in Bancroft where they raised their four children: Wendy, Paul, Tyler and Tandy. Barbara enjoyed serving in her church callings, being in the outdoors, camping and going on pack trips with her husband Dean. She also enjoyed singing and crocheting. She enjoyed holidays (especially Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween) and she loved celebrating with her children and family. Her family fondly remembers the many creative Halloween costumes that she designed and put together. She worked for the Caribou County Sheriff's Office for over 25 years where she made many lifelong friends. She worked as a dispatcher and as the Driver's License Supervisor for many years. Barbara is survived by her husband Dean of Bancroft; her children: Wendy (Brandon) Morrison of Rio Rancho, NM, Paul (Diana) of Pocatello, ID, Tyler (Kimberly) of Malta, ID and Tandy of Pocatello; and her grandchildren: Josh, Sariah, Adam, Katie and Maggie Morrison of Rio Rancho NM, McKynlee, Bree and Logan Gilbert of Pocatello and Jennie, Audrey, Sadee, Hannah and Leah Gilbert of Malta. She is also survived by her three sisters Carol King, Loa (Bob) Lounsbury and Trena (Blake) Carlson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dee Ann Christensen. Friends may call from 6 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Sims Funeral Home, 139 E 2nd South, Soda Springs, ID. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Bancroft Ward Chapel with a viewing from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the church immediately prior to the funeral services.
