Heavenly Father called another one of His angels home. Barbara Kay Mellor, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 28, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born July 16, 1942 to Joseph DeVon Hermansen and Effie Irene Hansen in Gunnison, Utah. Barbara was a very active little girl. She loved playing with her brother and sister. She was on the drill team, softball team, pep club, and played in the school band. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1960 and married her high school sweetheart the love of her life, Dennis Allen Mellor, on November 20, 1960 and sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Temple August 20, 1963. They were blessed with five beautiful children: Denise, LaDawn, Kristine, Connie, and David. They raised their five children in Grace, Idaho. Her passion and legacy was her family. She was always there for her family serving and supporting at every opportunity. Barbara was active in the community. She played on a woman's softball league. She was involved in various womans clubs, and worked at different businesses in Grace. She really enjoyed being on the EMT team and helping people. Barbara was an active member in the LDS church where she served in the relief society, young women's, primary, cub scouts, and as librarian. Dennis and Barbara completed a service mission out at Chesterfield's Historical Townsite. She loved making quilts for the humanitarian with other ladies in the community. Her hobbies and talents included: painting, sewing, quilting, bottling, gardening, and decorating. What she enjoyed the most was being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and 4-wheeling. When she was asked what her greatest honor was, she replied, "My children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren." She never considered time with her family as time wasted. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jerry DeVon Hermansen, a sister, Jewel Hermansen, and a daughter, Denise Kay Peterson. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Allen Mellor, sister, Joy Woods (Leon "Woody"), sister-in-law, Karen Hermansen, four children, LaDawn White (Patrick), Kristine Allen (Kent), Connie Viehweg (Allen), David Mellor, son-in-law, Matthew Peterson, 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way. Services were held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. Family will visit with friends Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and Wednesday morning from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery. listen to service
