Obituary

Bernard Lindstrom, 91, long-time resident of Grays Lake, passed away peacefully Monday, January 21, 2013 at The Gardens of Rigby. He was born July 27, 1921 in Soda Springs at the Enders Hotel. His parents were Albin and Lillie Agnes Burton Lindstrom. Albin came from Sweden and was mining on Caribou Mountain. He brought his washing down to Eagle Creek where he met Lillie Burton, who was recently widowed with 4 children, Lyle, Lucille, Mona and Lloyd. Albin and Lillie were married and had two sons, Albin Jr. and Bernard. Bernard served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He served in France and Germany and was in Germany when the war ended. On May 7, 1947 he married Betty Thomas and they had three children, Varden (Butch), Raelene, and Dorene. Bernard and Betty ranched in Grays Lake for 70 years and then moved to Iona in 2008. He is survived by his children: son, Varden (Butch) (Frances) Lindstrom of Hastings, Michigan; daughters, Raelene (Mick) Humpherys of Layton, Utah, and Dorene (Joe) Shaffer of Iona, Idaho; sister, Mona Worth of Pocatello, Idaho; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, January 25, at Sims Funeral Home, 139 E. Second Street in Soda Springs. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, January 26, at the Hooper L.D.S. chapel, 281 E. Hooper Ave. in Soda Springs, with a viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 am at the church prior to services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
