Bernetta Pearl Owen passed away in her home on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

She was born in Metropolis, Illinois on March 4, 1943 and raised in Cypress and Vienna, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Bertha Altenberger and is survived by two siblings Roger (Donna) Altenberger, Karnak, IL and Danny (Phyllis) Altenberger, Hillsboro, IL.

Bernetta married Glenn Owen in 1963 in Sterling, Colorado where they resided for several years before moving to Soda Springs. They were later divorced but remained friends. Together they had three children; Scott (Sara) Owen, Helena, MT; Kim (Dennis) Moore, Logan, UT; and Tyler (Chrystal) Owen, Pocatello, ID. She had several grandchildren; Savanna Owen, Alyssa Owen, Zachary Owen, Jennifer Krebs, Michelle Johnson, Shanna Reese, Stacy Howard, and a baby grandaughter, Marie Star Owen is due in December.

Bernetta was an accomplished seamstress and owned her own alteration business for several years. She will always be remembered for her colorful sense of humor, upbeat nature, and befriending people wherever she went. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids as well as church and senior center activities. Sewing, reading, and planning weddings were also interests of hers.

She had a heart of gold that touched everyone she met and will be fondly remembered.
