Bernice Sibbett Leavitt was born in Soda Springs, Idaho on October 11, 1913 to Sam and Lizzie Sibbett of Wayan, Idaho. She was the fifth of six children.
She attended schools at Wayan, Soda Springs and the Albion Teachers College.
She married John Delbert Leavitt in 1934. They lived their first winter in Auburn, Wyoming, moving to Soda Springs the following fall. Dell was employed by the US Forest service.
She was an active member in the LDS Church, holding many and varied positions from 1935 to 1983.
She bought and managed several businesses over the years and was considered an authority on the history of Soda Springs and Caribou County.
She had four sons, J.D., Mishael, Morgan and Renny.
Bernice died July 30, 2011 at the Caribou Memorial Hospital Living Center. She was 97 years old.
Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, three sons, three brothers, two sisters and a step-son.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Soda Springs Stake Center. Family will meet with friends on Friday at the church from 12:30 -1:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
