Obituary

On June 24, 2012, Candice Lea Mabey lost her valiant battle against cancer and returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven. Candice passed away surrounded by her family at her home in Bancroft. Candice was born October 4, 1966 to Lois and H Vaughn Hunter in Rexburg, Idaho. She grew up in Rigby and Menan area before going to Ricks College and then Idaho State University. Candice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had held many various callings in the church. She commented near the end that her most satisfying church calling was that of Achievement Day Leader and she loved teaching and mentoring "her girls". Candice met "J" Adam Mabey at a Home Evening Group at ISU and they were subsequently married on July 15, 1988. Their union was later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in June 1990. Candice and J Adam have lived in Blackfoot, Idaho, Lewiston, Idaho and Bancroft, Idaho. Candice also attended college at the University of Idaho and earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in family counseling. Candice believed in being active in the community, both in the front and behind the scenes. Candice even stepped up and served her community as a Bancroft City Councilor. When Candice lived in Lewiston, she worked with at-risk children at the Northwest Children's Home and then later with at-risk adults at a hospital for the mentally challenged. Before leaving Lewiston, she was a Job Consultant and counselor for low income individuals with the Idaho Department of Employment. When Candice and J Adam moved to Bancroft, J Adam promised her that she did not have to work outside the home until she wanted to. This allowed Candice to do what she loved most, focus 100% on being a MOM. Candice was a friend to all who desired to have one. She would regularly befriend strangers with just one meeting. Several people have commented that Candice was the first person to welcome them and would then continue the friendship. Candice's vibrant personality and loving countenance will be missed by all who crossed her path. Candice was preceded in death by Grandparents LaVerne and Francis Jones/Horald and Cora Hunter. Also her parents-in-law Ada Marie and J Emerson Mabey. Candice is survived by her husband, J Adam, and daughters, Kachina (21), Audra (10) and Sadra (9) Mabey of Bancroft, H Vaughn and Lois Hunter (parents - Boise), Greg and Christie Hunter (brother - Melba), David and Kimberly Hunter (brother - Meridian), and Alison and Jason Stucki (Sister - Middleton). Services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services.
