IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Lee
Nelson
August 17, 1946 – February 5, 2018
Our beloved Sister Carol Lee Nelson passed away at her home in Grace, Idaho February 5, 2018 after battling long term health issues.
Carol Lee was born August 17, 1946 in Soda Springs Idaho. She was the first born child of Wayne and Pauline Fraser Egbert.
Carol Lee attended school in Grace, Idaho where she graduated high school and later graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. She received her Master Degree in Elementary Education from Idaho State University. She was very pleased with this accomplishment, Because she taught kindergarten for the majority of the career, her close friends and family would often tease her about being the only Kindergartener with a Masters. Her teaching career lead her to many places: Soda Spring, Idaho, Manila, Utah, Hanksville, Utah then ending up in her home town of Grace, Idaho. She taught for 32 years and eventually had to take a medical retirement.
Carol Lee Grew up in the Grace area and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She learned many crafting skills early on such as: cross-stitching, quilting, sewing, scrap-booking and jewelry making. She was taught to crotchet by her Grandmother which was a challenge because Carol Lee was left handed, but this did not stop her from perfecting this skill. She has beautiful examples of her work and has won many awards at the County Fair over the years. She loved collecting dolls, Knick knacks, books, DVDs and buying gifts for others. This of course could not be done without her all-time favorite pastime . . . SHOPPING! Carol Lee would often shop and hang out with her friend the late Carol Brown or her "Sister of the Heart" Laura Schenk. In later years Laura not only hung out with her, but spent countless hours helping her with everything including trips to the hospital and doctor visits.
After moving back to Grace to teach, Carol Lee met and married DeRay Nelson on September 18, 1993. They were later sealed in the Las Vegas LDS Temple. DeRay was the love of her life and he treated her like a queen. They loved going out to breakfast, visiting her Mom and Dad and enjoyed when their children and relatives would visit their home.
Many will miss the calls from Carol Lee especially after 8:00 P.M. She had a rare ability to meet people and make them feel as though they had known her for a life time. So many people were involved in her life in her declining years that it would be hard to name them all.
Carol Lee is survived by one sister and three brothers: Jenann (Dwayne) Hansen, Brad (Bobbie Ann) Egbert, Leland (Linda) Egbert, and Kerry (Kaleigh) Egbert. Step Children: Steve Nelson, Susan (Glen) Patti, John Nelson, Bruce (Mary Lou) Nelson, DeWynn (Kathy) Nelson, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Carol Lee was preceded in death by her Husband, DeRay Nelson, Father, Wayne Egbert, Mother, Pauline Egbert, and Sister Kim E (Pitcher) Arnold.

The family would like to express special thanks to Laura and Bruce Schenk, Brian and Becky Jorgensen, Bishop Randall Stoddard, David Sotutu, Cindy Spencer and Lou Ann Gibson. Thanks to the Grace/Caribou County EMTs, and the staff of the Franklin County Memorial Hospital and countless others who have touched her life. Thank you all for your love and concern for Carol Lee.
