Carol Elaine Swensen Allen was born May10, 1936 in Pocatello, Idaho to Willis James and Flora LaVera "Toots" Snow Swensen. She was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Carol attended Lago & Thatcher schools, and graduated from Grace High School in 1954. Carol married Ray Allen on December 31, 1954. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Carol and Ray are the parents of six children, Kip (Daphne) Allen, Kevin (Pam) Allen, Nathan Allen, Adele Allen, Sheri Allen Rider, and Mike (Holly) Allen.
Carol was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She serviced in the Young Women's and Primary Organizations, Cub Scout leader and as ward Relief Society President and Stake Missionary.
Carol was very active in the community. She enjoyed working in the garden club, attending Red Hats, Caribou Quilt Guild, DUP, and serving as the Jay C-ettes vice president and President, a journalist for the Idaho State Journal and she was a 4-H leaders for multiple classes including sewing, knitting, crocheting and boys cooking.
Carol loved to spend time with her family, work in her garden, bake, sew, quilt, camp, and make her traditional gingerbread houses and watching her grandchildren use their imaginations and create memories while decorating them. Carol retired for Lallatin's Food Town in October 2017 after working as a cashier for 40 plus years. Her smiling face will truly be missed by many!
Carol is survived by her children and their spouses, her brother Joseph Frank (Lisa) Swensen, her sisters Janice (Larry) Sax, Kaylene (George) Markovich, Liz (Mortiz) Liechtle, and sister-in-law Linda Roberts. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren as well as their spouses, and 20 great grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her step father Warren Henderson, her husband Ray Allen and his parents Ariel Allen and Edith & Sterling Jensen, sisters-in-law Dorthy Barthlome, Glenys (Harold) Chandler and Lyle Swensen, a brother-in-law Wilford Roberts, a son-in- law Don Rider and a grandson Gerald Allen.
Carol has touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel. Family will visit with friends on Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Church and also Friday 10-11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made to Huntsman-Glioblastoma research.
