Cheryl Ann Lawrence Dredge passed away in St George, Utah, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after a six-year struggle with pudendal neuralgia, a rare and chronic pain condition.

Cheryl was born on January 15, 1956, in Tiffin, Ohio, the daughter of Jesse Eugene Lawrence and Dolores Rebecca Barto. She was the second of three children. She had two brothers.

She laughed easily and cared deeply for others. She believed strongly in showing up for people in times of need. She was thoughtful, generous and deeply compassionate beneath her straightforward nature.

She married the love of her life, Richard Alan Dredge, February 10, 1991, in Mission Bay, California. They were sealed in the Logan temple on August 9, 1995.

Cheryl, with her husband Alan, were successful business owners. They owned and ran laundromats, a carpet cleaning business and a hair/nail salon. They also bought and sold real estate. Alan repaired equipment while Cheryl managed finances and operations.

Among her proudest accomplishments was completing a seven-day bicycle tour averaging 70 miles each day. She also authored a memoir titled Tugboat; Courage Under the Current.

Cheryl embraced golf after retirement and became fiercely competitive. She took first place in a competitive golf tournament, even though she had never golfed before. She served as events chair at her country club for two years, organizing tournaments and fundraising.

One of the greatest blessings of Cheryl’s later life was her close friendship with David Davenport and Ruth Webb. Bothfaithfully cared for and supported her for many years.

She is remembered for her honesty, her laughter, her determination, and the way she cared for others during their times of need.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Alan Dredge; her father, Jesse E. Lawrence and her brother David LeeLawrence.

She is survived by her mother, Delores R. Barto, her brother,Philip Lawrence, her nieces, Chandra Gibson and Brandie Lawrence, her nephew, Christopher Lawrence and her extended family in Ohio. She is also survived by stepson Rodney Dredge (Dana), stepdaughter Tammy Dredge Crowther (Kent), stepdaughter Sandy Dredge Meadows (Hugh), stepson Doug Dredge (Julie), along with many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In keeping with Cheryl’s wishes and her lifelong love for Ohio, a portion of her ashes will be scattered over the Sandusky River in Tiffin, Ohio.

Cheryl was laid to rest during a private graveside service at Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, Idaho, where family and friends gathered, to celebrate and remember Cheryl’s life.
