Clarence passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 in Douglas after a long illness with his family at his bed side.
Clarence was born July 9, 1932 in Orpha, Wyoming the son of Clare Allen and Agnes Pearl (Brewer) Richards. Clarence was the 5th of 10 children. Clarence was raised and educated in Orpha. He worked at various ranches until he turned 18 and then he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad.
Clarence was drafted into the United States Army and severed during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He had achieved the rank of Corporal and was a gunner and drove the ammo truck on the front lines. Clarence returned to work for Burlington Northern Railroad upon his discharge from the Army. Clarence married the love of his life, Ruth Middaugh Lenzen on April 2, 1960 in Douglas. They lived in and around Douglas and Glenrock buying a farm in 1973 at the LaPrele exit.
Clarence retired from the railroad in 1978 after 27 years. He and Ruth moved the family to Thatcher, Idaho where they had bought a farm and lived there until the time of Ruth's death on January 28. 1987. Clarence returned to Douglas to be near family.
Clarence is survived by his daughter, Earlene Archer of Douglas; son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Becky Richards of Grace; sisters, Alice Forney of Glenrock, Wyoming and Mary Angle of Indiana; brother, Harry Richards of Orpha;11 grandchildren; 21great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death his parents; wife, Ruth; son, Butch Lenzen, on December 27, 1977; infant daughter, Kandy; sister, Ella Verley; brothers, John, Roy, and Emil Richards; and two infant siblings.
A memorial to the Converse County Cancer Fund in care of the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
Interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Grace Cemetery in Grace, Idaho.
