Obituary

Our precious son, Clayton H. Andreasen passed away on September 30, 2018 at Rocky Mountain Care in Logan, Utah. Clayton was born to Val Gene and Janice Andreasen on April 16, 1960 in Soda Springs, Idaho.

He was the third of six children born into the Andreasen home and was lovingly adored by his family. Clayton was born with Down Syndrome and even though he struggled with many health challenges, one of them being 2 hip replacements, he always bore his trials with patience, determination and courage.

When he was 6 years old he was able to attend Special Education School in Preston, ID. Three years later a Special Ed Class was started in Grace, Idaho. He loved school and his teachers. He learned to write his name, recognize numbers and count, etc. Clayton loved to watch TV, especially Balderdash, Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island. He delighted in jumping on the trampoline and learned to ride a big bike without any help. Anyone who knew Clayton was very aware of his love for hamburgers, french fries and Coke.

When Clayton was 21 years old he couldn't attend Special Education anymore because of his age. At home on the farm there was nothing for him to do and he became very depressed. In the Spring of 1987, we were able to place him in a Group Home at Cedar Center in Blackfoot, Idaho. Clayton thrived there, he adored Donna Butler, the staff and made many friends. In October 2015, Jana Hebdon was hired as the Residential Administrator at Cedar Center. Clayton loved her, she was so good to him. Clayton was at Cedar Center for 30 years and then his health began to fail. He became confined to a wheelchair and it wasn't possible for him to live at Cedar Center anymore because he required a skilled nursing facility.

In 2017 we moved Clayton close to us back home at Rocky Mountain Care in North Logan, Utah. He missed his friends in Blackfoot and even though he longed to be back there he made many friends at his new home. Many of the staff adored him and he received exceptional care in his final days.

Clayton is survived by his parents Val and Janice Andreasen of North Logan, UT, his brothers and sisters namely: Laurie (Lewis) Rasmussen of Idaho Falls, ID, David (Mary) Andreasen of Hyrum, UT, Karla (Steven) Schenk of North Logan, UT, Marcia (Jerry) Crandall of Highland, UT, Ryan (Alena) Andreasen of Kaysville, UT, and many numerous nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 8th at the Williams Ward Church in Niter, ID, (south of Grace, ID) with a viewing from 10-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Grace Idaho Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to everyone at Cedar Center, Rocky Mountain Care and Hospice for their loving care and compassion for Clayton throughout his life.
