Obituary

Curtis Dale Ayers peacefully returned to his Father in Heaven on December 10, 2011, at the University of Utah Medical Center. He fought a long, courageous battle while awaiting a liver transplant. He was amazingly strong during this struggle and he never shunned the fight. Curtis was born on May 2nd, 1955, in Soda Springs, Idaho to Dale and Verla Ayers. He was the oldest of 3 sons, he adored his brothers and their tight friendship will forever endure. He graduated from Soda Springs High School, then attended Idaho State University where he became an amazing welder. On June 9, 1979, Curtis married the love of his life, Lisa Stephens. They solemnized their marriage for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple on February 17, 2000. They were best friends and enjoyed life to the fullest together. Curtis' greatest joy was his family. He loved his children, and his grandchildren even more. Curtis was a life-long farmer. He took pride in his work and was meticulous in all his undertakings. Curtis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His work ethic manifested itself in his favorite calling as a home teacher. Curtis applied himself to his membership in the Masons as well, where he achieved the status of a 33rd degree. Curtis equally devoted his energies to the Scottish Rite and Shriners where he served others and helped many local children who suffered with disabilities. However, Rootis (as he was called by his friends) was not all work and no play. He truly loved spending time in the great outdoors with the best friends a person could ask for. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, ski, snowmobile, swim, snorkel ... you name it. We will miss our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Son, Friend and Papa but we know he is resting well after his long fight with health issues. He is reunited with many whom he dearly loved; including his youngest brother, Rick Ayers, his favorite grandma Kate, his Father-in-law Clint Stephens and many others. Curtis is survived by his wife, Lisa, his parents, Dale and Verla Ayers of Soda Springs, Mother-in-law, Shirley Stephens of St. George, his Children Rikki (Doug) Wood of Soda Springs, Lynzi (Aaron) Hobbs of Pocatello, and Dusty (Melissa) Ayers of Soda Springs, his brother, Kris (Lindsey) Ayers of Soda Springs, and seven grandchildren, Morgan, Alea, Ellie, Carson, Barrett, Kord, and Hallee, several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many great friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17th, 2011, at 1:00 pm at the Hooper Church in Soda Springs, Idaho (281 East Hooper Ave.) . There will be a visitation before the service from 10:00 am. to 12:30 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners hospital and ask that you all consider becoming an organ donor. We look forward to the time when we will all be reunited. Until that time, may God be with you until we meet again.
