Dallas Deraine Popa, 93 , of Grace passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018.
Dallas was born on January 27, 1925 in Alexander, Idaho the son of Dan and Sarah Caroline Ashbaker Popa.
He graduated from High School and had perfect attendance for all 12 years.
Dallas served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He married Eunice Maxine Thomas on August 20, 1949 in Grace, Idaho. She passed away August 3, 2014.
Working for Utah Power & Light, they lived in Oneida for five years then returned to Alexander to work for the next 35 years. Following his retirement, he moved to Grace and for the last two years he has lived at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello.
Dallas was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as ward clerk, counselor in the bishopric, scoutmaster and had served missions in the Logan Temple and at the Chesterfield Historical Site.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiling and building puzzles. He also liked to travel.
Dallas is survived by his two sons and one daughter, Vaughn and Oswalda Popa of Grace, ID, L. Kevin and Janet Popa of Renfrew, PA, Paula and Stan Smith of Clearfield, UT. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and two sisters Anna Sessions of West Point, UT and Mary Caress of West Haven, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers Dewey Popa and Floyd Popa and a sister Mary Childs.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. Family will visit friends on Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and Wednesday morning 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
