Obituary

Darrel Dean Moore, 68, of Soda Springs, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born July 31, 1940 at Roundup, Montana the son of William E and Ethel A Sturdevant Moore.

He had also lived at Billings, Montana, Jeffrey City, Wyoming, moving to Soda Springs in 1965. He graduated from Billings Sr. High School and attended Montana State University.

He married Darlene L. Curts, August 6, 1964 in Lander Wyoming. She passed away July 29, 1994.

He married Beth Anne Nobbe, June 9, 1997 at Soda Springs, Idaho.

Darrel served in the U S Navy; he was a Radioman First Class. His active duty was spent on the USS Ashland during the Berlin Wall Crisis and the Cubin Missile Crisis.

He retired from Monsanto after 30 years as an operator.

He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church.

He held a Radio Amateur license for 50 years; was a member of the Navy Marine Corp Mars Member; an emergency communications officer for the local Emergency Planning Committee in Caribou County.

Darrel was a member of the American Legion, American Radio Relay League, BPO Elks, and the Quarter Century Wireless Assn. Inc.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, ham radio communications, watching rodeo and Major League Baseball.

Darrel is survived by his wife Beth Moore of Soda Springs, 2 sons and 3 daughters and their spouses; Arthur O and Jean Moore, Salem Alabama; Darren D and Stephanie Moore, Mesa, Arizona; Sharon R and Gary Hopkins, Soda Springs, ID; Paulene R and Boyd Preece, Elko, Nevada; and Dawnna D Moore, Pocatello, ID. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers and 1 sister; Ronald E Moore, Billings, MT; Raymond A Moore, Lander, WY; Roger D Moore, Queen Creek, AZ and Sharon L. Larson, Billings, MT. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Gerald D Moore and a great-grandson, John Nelson.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, November 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church located at 25 S Hooper, Ave in Soda Springs with Rev Reinke officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs with Military Honors.
