David Lee Campbell, 78; of Bancroft, Idaho passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
David was born on August 12, 1943 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico the son of Elsie Mae Campbell.
Following high school, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marines entering service on July 11, 1961. He served in 1st Force Reconnaissance during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with medals in 1971 due to battle wounds in the rank of captain.
He married Reba Gale Amos on July 25, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She passed away on March 23, 2016.
He married Lynette Sharp on January 29, 2021 in Soda Springs, Idaho.
He regularly donated to Disabled Veterans, Toys for Tots and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
He was a long-haul truck driver and of all the places he has lived in and drove to, he chose the peaceful quiet of Bancroft, Idaho to retire to. He really loved his neighbors and community and served them tirelessly in any way he could. David was a loving and care-giving husband who found joy in telling jokes and spirited conversations.
He enjoyed gunsmithing, brick masonry, fishing and hunting. He was an avid reader and grew a lovely flower and vegetable garden each year. He also liked rabbit hunting with his beagles. He raised and sold AKC prize winning beagle puppies.
David is survived by his wife Lynette Campbell of Bancroft, ID, a son David Lee Campbell, Jr. of Overland Park, KS, and brothers James Robert (Tina) Fox of Kearney, AZ, Max (Jolene) Mayer of Milford, UT, Randy (Christy) Mayer of Albuquerque, NM, and a sister Jo Ann Sieloff of Kearny, AZ. He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother Leland D. Mayer and a brother-in-law Wayne Sieloff.
In keeping with David's wishes he will be cremated, and no services will be held at this time.
