IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Wesley
Meek
May 29, 1979 – February 19, 2025
David Wesley Meek, 45 of Georgetown, ID, took his life on February 19th. David was born on May 29, 1979 in Midwest City, Oklahoma, son of Rosemary and Wesley Meek. David attended Southern Nazarene University studying pilot flight and business.
He was a talented carpenter, an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and enjoyed shooting sports. David loved to spend time with his family and friends, blowing up things and starting fires.
David and Hatchet (Mary Teresa) were together for 15 years. They married on July 4th, as David promised they would always have fireworks on their anniversary. David and Hatchet made their lives in Georgetown where they were active members of the Caribou Bible Church family, an important part of David's life.
David's magnetic personality welcomed people into his life, made close friends, and children and animals flocked to him. David was also a protector – of his wife, his family, and his friends. David called his parents every Sunday.
David will always be remembered for his humor and prankster nature. David was kind, big-hearted, and ambitious. He made life fun and an adventure for everyone he touched. David was creative, sincere, and honest to a fault. He was a ridiculously fun jokester and of course, stunningly handsome.
David swore for 30 years he would never marry anyone until he met his match with Hatchet – he loved her so much. Their love was very special.
David is survived by his loving wife, Hatchet (Mary Teresa) Ludwig and bonus sons, Sebastian (Kat) and Maxwell (Kaitlin) Ludwig, his parents, Rosemary and Wesley Meek; his siblings: Sheila (Trent) Gagnon, Paula (Nate) Cook; and brother-from-another-mother, James Travis (JT); and nephews: Carson, Drew, Connor Gagnon; Nathan (Cobey) Cook, and Tyler (Maggie) Cook.
David's family wants David to be remembered for how he lived, rather than how he died. We want to encourage others to talk about depression, mental illness and suicide instead of hiding it due to shame or embarrassment. The way David died did not represent the person he was or how he lived his life. Please reach out to loved ones in need, check in with them – offer your love and compassion. Many people leaned into David's pain in his last weeks and shared their support, for which his family is forever grateful.
A service to celebrate David's life will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at 4PM at Caribou Bible Church, 290 E. 1st Street N., Soda Springs, ID 83276. A meal will be served after the ceremony.
Hatchet would love tangible remembrances of David, so if you wanted to send a picture or letter with memories of David, she would love to have them from family and friends.
