David DeVerl Tingey, 81; of Niter, Idaho passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
David was born on October 29, 1939 to Delbert and Thora Oler Tingey in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He grew up in Grays Lake later moving to Soda Springs and then Grace before moving to Montezuma Creek, Utah. He moved back to Grace and has lived there for the past 43 years.
David married Sarah Begaye on August 31, 1963 in Gallup, New Mexico.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission on the Navajo Reservation. He also enjoyed his time working at the Temple.
David was always ready to share his Cowboy Poetry and was the founder of Cowboy Poetry Poets of Idaho. He also enjoyed HAM Radio and was an EMT for over 15 years. He loved traveling and doing his Poetry.
He is survived by a son, Richard Tingey of Fort Collins, CO, and two daughters, Karla Battle of Chesterfield, VA, Dianna (Shaun) Bowles of Logan, UT. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, and 5 sisters, Sandra Lewis, Rula Parkin, Nannette Miller, Mardean Jensen, Ruth Jennings and a brother Harold Nixon.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Thatcher/Williams Ward Chapel in Niter at Noon. Family will visit with friends Saturday morning from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to assist with funeral expenses.
