Dean Myers Lloyd, 91, of Soda Springs passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Dean was born on October 17, 1924 in Wellsville, Utah the son of William Thomas Lea and Sarah Wyatt Myers Lloyd. He graduated from high school and then attended Utah State and studied welding, auto mechanics and vocational agriculture. He also attended the Police Academy-FBI Academy. Dean married Galane Wyatt on May 16, 1949 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They lived in Soda Springs since 1949. While living in Soda Springs he farmed for 45 years and had served as Police Chief for 8 years and worked as an accountant for Monsanto Co. for 20 ½ years. He was also a crop adjuster in the summer and fall months for different insurance companies for 20 years. Dean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacons quorum advisor, fast offering specialist, 1st counselor in the 8th ward bishopric and as a High Councilman. He had also been a member of the Soda Springs Lions Club for 20 years, a member of the Preston Elks Lodge for 12 years and was associated with the "Christmas Charity Baskets" in Soda Springs and Grace. Dean enjoyed playing his accordion, gardening and traveling. He also loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Galane Lloyd of Soda Springs, ID, and his four daughters, Peggy and Clark Hunsaker of Honeyville, UT, Linda Higginson of Salt Lake City, UT, Julie and Herb Sturm of Franklin, ID, Cindy and Rick Gee of Saratoga Springs, UT. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters and six brothers. Services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center. Family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Listen to service
