Obituary

Dee L Andreasen's journey with family and friends ended Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Preston, Idaho at the age of 100. He was born July 3, 1916 in Cleveland, Idaho, the fifth of eight children, to Roy Casper and Lula Sophia Larsen Andreasen. He married Etheleen Lloyd on October 4, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Raised on the "Divide," he attended Rose Hill Wilson Elementary School and went on to graduate from Thatcher High School. After attending college in Logan, Utah, he served a LDS mission to the Central States where so much early Church history took place. He was a farmer all his life and felt the farm was a good place to raise a family but was also a challenging life. To supplement the farm, he started as a life insurance agent, and took a liking to it saying he liked people and it would bring him close to them if he served them well. He was a resourceful man and could fix anything around the home and farm. He had a quick wit and shared his jokes and stories several times with people. He felt you needed a little humor to get through life. He loved the Lord and desired to have his walk and talk be like unto the Savior. His church callings, temple assignments, and scouting involvement all brought him great joy. It was rewarding for him and his wife to serve a mission together in 1985 in the Peoria Illinois Mission. He loved the young and the old, the quiet and the bold, and considered everyone his friend. He knew no stranger. He is survived by three sons, LeGrand (Lucille), Bart (Sheila), Mark (Karen), and two daughters Bonne (Marcus) Gibbs, and Shauna (Preston) Phelps, 23 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, one brother in law, and six sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etheleen, a son LRied, a granddaughter, four brothers, three sisters, seven brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Our dad, grandpa and friend is dearly loved. He would rather serve than be served, give rather than receive. His life was devoted to making our lives and the lives of others more fulfilling and enjoyable. He was happiest when helping others. He unselfishly dedicated his time, talents, and energy to serving his family, church and community. We cherish our memories of him and his example will inspire us as we continue our journey. Funeral services will be held at the Thatcher/Williams Ward church on Saturday, March 25 at noon. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 6-8 pm and Saturday morning from 10-11:30 at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace cemetery. A sincere thank you to the residents, caregivers and staff at Heritage Senior Living and Access Home Care and Hospice for your living kindness and care. He considered each of you his friend. In memory of Dad, give someone a hug today. Listen to service
