Obituary

DeLila Martinsen, 85, of Soda Springs, returned to her Father in Heaven on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center. She was born in Bloomington, Idaho on April 7, 1927, the daughter of Charles Lorenzo and Pearl Laverna Quinton Lewis. She attended school at the Bloomington Elementary in Bloomington, Idaho and Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho. On November 9, 1946 she married Reid Frank Martinsen in Dillon, Montana. Reid and DeLila were sealed together on August 29, 1956 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel and served in the Primary. Together they had seven children, Lois, Kenneth, Brent, Dean, Nancy, Linda and Carol. She and Reid lived in Idaho Falls, Rigby, Aberdeen and Soda Springs. They owned Reid's Plumbing & Heating, Inc. in Aberdeen and Soda Springs. DeLila enjoyed quilting, cooking and entertaining (babysitting) her many grandchildren. Her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her family. She had many life-long friends and loved her friends in the Red Hat Ladies and at Spring Creek Manor. She was on the board of directors of the Caribou County Senior Citizens. DeLila is survived by her sons, Brent (Kathy) Martinsen of Soda Springs, Idaho; Dean (Cindy) Martinsen of Afton, Wyoming and her daughters, Lois (Gary) Warner of Aberdeen, Idaho; Nancy Lindsay of Soda Springs, Idaho; Linda (Wayne) Warner of Chubbuck, Idaho and Carol (Dan) Baker of Bancroft, Idaho. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 74 Great-grandchildren (plus a Great-Granddaughter on the way) and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Viola Martinsen of Ogden, Utah, one brother, Milford Lewis of Idaho Falls and three sisters, Leona Payne of Montpelier, Marvine Herrera and Verda Longhurst of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid, her parents, brother Harold Lewis, sisters Elaine Lewis, LaRae Dokken, and LaRee Ferguson, son Kenneth Reid Martinsen, Granddaughter Jill Martinsen, Grandson Matthew Reid Lindsay, son-in-law Joe Van Lindsay, Great-grandchildren, Trey Landvatter, MattieJoe Whitney Lindsay, Lydia Alesssa Granadino and Gabriel Wade Dory. The family wishes to express our gratitude to those at Edgewood Spring Creek Assisted Living Center and the Caribou Memorial Living Center for their special care and to Kent and Gloria Evans for their caring transportation to her activities over the past several years. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Soda Springs 5th Ward building (361 South 3rd East). Family will meet with friends on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
