Obituary

Delma Louise Murphy Settles, 80; passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

Delma was born on July 6, 1939 in Bowling Green, Kentucky the daughter of Peter Winfred and Wilma Louise Hagan Murphy. She moved to Southern California for several years. They returned to Kentucky for a brief stay before relocating permanently to Hawthorn, California.

She married Harry Grissom. They were later divorced.

She married Aubrey Dearl Settles on August 28, 1965 in Los Angeles, CA. They moved to Bancroft, ID in 1977 where they spent their rest of their married life. Starting in 2012 Delma started spending her winters in Arizona with her son Tony and in Arkansas with her daughter, Corlissa and family. After a brief illness, she moved down to Arizona permanently with her son, Tony. She spent the last spring and summer with her daughter Corlissa and then moved to Edgewood in Soda Springs.

Delma loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed movie nights with the grandchildren. She also liked a good murder mystery in a book or movie.

She worked as a housekeeper at the Caribou Memorial Hospital for many years and retired in 2002.

She is survived by one son and three daughters, Tony and Connie Settles of Maricopa, AZ, Corlissa and Tom Dunn of Aberdeen, ID, Barbara and Earl Wayne Thompson of Bates, Arkansas, Nettie Hopkins of Waldrum, Arkansas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Peter and Ali Settles of Phenix, AZ, Denise and Joey O'dell, Soda Springs, ID, Dani and Zack Zander of Soda Springs, ID, Dillion Dunn of Aberdeen, ID, Hayden Dunn of Aberdeen, ID, Sarah and Talon Campau of Aberdeen, ID, Catherine Miner, Jennifer and Jack Lynch, Kerri Lynn Thompson, Tashia Brandenburg all of Arkansas, and 26 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Alfred Louis and Tammy Murphy of Helena, MT, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Aubrey Dearl Settles, a daughter Baby Girl Grissom, two grandchildren, William Grant Settles and Destanie Jones, and two sisters, Winifred Pauline Murphy Hunton, Alice Marie Ford Shields, and two brothers, Harold Briggs Murphy and Peter Joseph Murphy.

Services will be held on Monday, February 24 at 1 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home. Family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also on Monday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services.

Burial will be in the Soda Springs Fairview Cemetery.
