Obituary

John DeMar Sorensen, 86, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living in Pocatello, Idaho on Thursday, January 16, 2020 due to age related causes.

DeMar was born in Grace, Idaho to Floyd and Ethel (Corbett) Sorensen on February 12, 1933. He spent his formative years growing up in Grace and working on the family farm until his high school graduation in 1951. He attended Idaho State College where he completed the auto mechanic and auto body programs. In 1954 at age 21, he entered the United States Army for two years.

DeMar married Carol JoAnn Rasmussen, also born and raised in Grace, in August 1956; and were later divorced in 1978. During their 22 years together, they had two boys and three girls. DeMar and his family lived in Idaho, Utah, and California; finally settling in Pocatello, Idaho. His heart always remained in his hometown of Grace, where the family spent a lot of time visiting family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Quentin and Glenn. He is survived by his children Nathan (Anjel Wright) Sorensen,
Gordon (Kandi Sutphin) Sorensen, Leslee Sorensen,
AnneMarie Sorensen (Bill Wood), and Shauna (William) Frayer. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Pocatello Brookdale Assisted Living and Encompass Hospice for their patience and compassion during the past three years.
