Dennis Michael Bailey passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his home.
Dennis was born on May 16, 1943 in Miles City, Montana to Caral Franklin and Alice M. (Griggs) Bailey. Dennis was the 3 rd of 6 children. The family lived in Montana until moving to Northern Idaho. He attended schools in Idaho and graduated from Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, Idaho in 1962. After graduation Dennis joined the Navy and served 4 years. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for 5 ½ months. His next duty station was the USS Haverfield for 1 ½, which was home ported in Guam. He finished his last 2 years aboard the heavy cruiser E.S.S. Saint Paul (CA-73) home ported in San Diego, California. The Saint Paul was a flag ship for the 7 th Fleet. Dennis was a Storekeeper, SK3 at the time of his discharge in 1966. He was very proud to serve his country!
Dennis has lived in Soda Springs since his discharge from the Navy and was employed by Kerr McGee Chemical Company until his retirement. Dennis had a passion for Corvettes and owned several throughout the years. He loved his family and was a very caring and sincere person. He dedicated many years to being a caregiver to his brother, Henry, who spent his adulthood in a wheelchair. His cats held a very special place in his heart and were his constant companions.
Dennis loved sports and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball and following his favorite teams. He attended many ISU gams as he was a true Bengals fan. He also attended all of his nephews and nieces and great-nephew and great-nieces sporting events.
Dennis is survived by his brother Ed (Barbara) Bailey, sister Carol Lee (Gary) Vorwaller and brother Tom (Arlene) Bailey as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, brother, Dan Bailey, brother Henry Bailey, a sister-in-law Bonnie Bailey, nephews Scott Bailey and Troy Bailey, great-nephew Tyson Vorwaller and a great-niece Amanda Marie Bailey.
Dennis was one of a kind and will never be forgotten by those who loved him!
Private family services will be held later this week with Military Honors at the Soda Springs Fairview Cemetery.
