Donald Keith Barnes "Tookie" passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of October 11, 2023.
He was born on January 27, 1942, in Lyons, Kansas to Lyle and Edith Barnes. He was the youngest of five children. He had four siblings (Johnny, Robert, Lila, and Jessie). He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Edith, and his siblings, Johnny, Lila, and Robert.
Tookie was an avid outdoorsman and loved backpacking, hunting, fishing, and painting. He was a talented painter and wood carver. Much like his father, he was always busy, always kind, always smiling, and always willing to help others in need.

Tookie married his high school sweetheart, Jana Lee in 1960 and raised two children (Heidi and Patrick). Later, Jan and Tookie were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Those who knew Tookie will remember him as a hard worker, honest, kind, patient, clever, funny, brilliant, and a prankster. He loved staying active and making sure that those around him were happy.

His legacy will continue through his family. He is survived by: Jan (spouse), Heidi and her beautiful daughters (Ashley, Alesha (Cory), and Allison), Patrick (Susan) and their children (Hayden (Greta), Keagan (Alexandra), Ciara (Zak), and Liam). He has 3 great-grandchildren which he adored!

His funeral will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 12:00.  Services will be held at 281 East Hooper Avenue, Soda Springs, Idaho.
Viewing will precede 10:30-11:30 prior to the funeral and burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
