Obituary

Donna Elaine Ellis Lee, 84, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Quinn Meadows Assisted Living Center in Pocatello, Idaho. Born March 31, 1931 in Soda Springs, Idaho, to George Willis and Bessie Mae Patience Davis Ellis, she was the second of three children. She graduated salutatorian from Soda Springs High School and attended Grimm's Business School in Pocatello. She married Eddie Roy Lee of Flomaton, Alabama, on December 26, 1952, in Santa Ana, California. Eddie and Donna settled in Soda Springs in 1954, where they raised their three children: Suzie, James, and Jared. They were married for fifty-seven years before Eddie died December 4, 2009. She was an active member of the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church in her early years of marriage and while raising her children. She baked many pies and participated in the annual Harvest Bazaar always willing to help in any way she was needed. Her life-long friend, Mazie Porter, was always there for her until the end. Donna was a homemaker and "stay-at-home" mom while raising her three children. She was always a room-mother and on the go, involved in her children's' activities. She was an accomplished seamstress and made most of her kid's clothes, along with costumes, uniforms, or whatever else was needed to support her children in their activities. As her children grew into teenagers, Donna took a job as a book-keeper for Roy Brown, J.R. Oil Company, or better known as the "Quick Stop" in Soda Springs. She loved this role and took her job very seriously. As a perfectionist, she sometimes drove her co-workers crazy with doing things always the right way. She reluctantly retired from her job to travel with Eddie after his retirement. Donna & Eddie loved to take their fifth-wheel trailer-home camping and traveling. They spent many winters in Alabama, home to Eddie's family. Donna devoted her life to taking care of Eddie, after he suffered a stroke in 1987. She was determined to make their life as comfortable as possible, in their home, for as long as possible. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie; two brothers, Donald and Dean; and her parents. Survivors include one daughter, Suzanna (Bob) Nelson, Soda Springs, Idaho, two sons; James (Kathy) Lee, Pocatello, Idaho, and Jared Lee, Jackson Hole, Wyoming; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 8, 2016 at noon at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Donna's family wishes to thank the many people who supported them and filled her life with happiness and friendship. The family expresses sincerest gratitude for the compassionate concern of the caregivers from Elegant Assisted Living. Also, the skillful and considerate care of Dr. Mills and Tammy Moore, Heritage Hospice Care, and for the staff of Quinn Meadows in Pocatello, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, suggested donations to the Caribou Memorial Hospital Foundation, 300 South 3rd West in Soda Springs, in memory of Donna Lee, would be appreciated. Listen to service
