Doris Jean McNealy McLain, 87, of Bancroft passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.
Doris was born on April 5, 1930 in Ashland, Boyd Co., Kentucky the daughter of William Frank and Elizabeth Freeda Carroway McNealy.
She lived in the eastern United States traveling from Kentucky to Ohio, West Virginia with the longest stay in Washington DC during the war until her move out west to Bancroft, Idaho about 1946. She completed high school in 1948 at North Gem High.
She married Jay Dell Jenkins on August 25, 1947 in Lund, Idaho. They were later divorced.
She married Hyrum Smith McLain on April 12, 1980. They owned and operated a business in Bancroft together where they made many lasting friendships. Hyrum passed away April 25, 2012.
Doris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served as Primary teacher and in Primary Presidency and also enjoyed performing in road shows. She was also active in Girl Scouts as a young woman.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and reading. She also enjoyed animals and anything outdoors such as hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.
Doris is survived by a son Michael Dean and Penny Jenkins of Rigby, ID and two daughters, Trish and George Hulse of Bancroft, ID and Cathy Baker of Soda Springs, ID. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hyrum Smith McLain, a Brother William Frank McNealy II, and two sons Dorian M. Jenkins and Marlon George Jenkins.
Services will be held on Monday, November 20 at Noon at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. Family will visit with friends Monday morning 10-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Lund Cemetery.
