IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy
Fortin
October 6, 1925 – December 17, 2019
Dorothy Fortin passed away on December 17th, 2019, at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Bregretta Smith, and her siblings Delmo Smith, Perry Smith, Norma Smith and Ileena Davies.
Dorothy was born October 6th 1925 in Bancroft, Idaho on her parent's 5th wedding anniversary.
She had two marriages, Glen Hogan, 1946 and Robert Fortin, 1958.
Dorothy grew up in Bancroft and lived most of her adult life in Hillsboro, Oregon. She had the unique opportunity to manage the old-fashioned soda and luncheon counter at the Hillsboro Pharmacy throughout the 1970's, where she developed long lasting friendships with many of the customers. She loved being in her own home and working in her yard up until a year before her passing. She enjoyed attending the Portland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with sisters from her ward. She looked forward to weekly Sunday dinners with her close friends, the Webb family and enjoyed many other friendships within the Hillsboro community. She was a regular at the swimming pool for over twenty years with a stop afterwards at the Perfection Bakery and later the Tuality Community Hospital cafeteria for a cup of hot chocolate and maybe a donut.
Dorothy was devoted to her family and made yearly visits to Idaho, Utah, Washington and Arizona. She was an important part of her children's families and made a point of attending as many births, baptisms, graduations, weddings and other important events as she could.
She was a friendly, humble and caring person who spent her life helping others. The memories, wisdom and truths she instilled in those she loved will live on. If you were fortunate to know Dorothy, you were truly blessed.
She is survived by her youngest sister, MarJean and Terry Rindlisbaker of Bancroft and her children, Annette Hogan of Leeds Utah, Craig and Kathleen Fortin of Stanwood, Washington and Theresa Ann and Mark Kalifut of Mesa, Arizona. At the time of her passing, Dorothy was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Noon at the Bancroft Cemetery.
