Obituary

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arm around you and whispered "come with me" with tearful eyes I watched, and saw you pass away. Although I loved you dearly, I could not make you stay. A golden heart stops beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me that he only takes the best. (Anonymous)

Dottie Harris passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

She was a wonderful wife, a great mom and grandmother, and a good friend to whomever she met. Although we will deeply miss her, we know it was her time to join her brother Gordon in heaven. She will never be forgotten for she left a tender mark on all of us.

She was born to DeVere and Nora LaMont on January 30, 1933 in her grandmother's home in Wellsville. She was the second of six children, all of which grew up in Logan, Utah. She married Milton W. Liechty, Sr. on March 7, 1949 and in this union she had her first four children. They later divorced and she married Larry Dean Harris on August 28, 1967 and in this union she had her fifth child that completed her family.

Dottie spent her first thirty-four years in Cache Valley growing up and started to raise her own family. During these years she attended schools in Logan, learned to play baseball, cook, garden, and how to be a great mom. While raising her family she was employed at Mode-O-Day, a garment factory. Although she worked at a laborious job all day, there was always time to take care of her family, spend time with her friends, and take care of anyone that crossed her path.

When she fell in love with Larry she moved to Conda, Idaho to share her life with him. They later moved to Soda Springs, then Afton, Wyoming, and for four years they lived in parts of New Mexico and California. Dottie worked at various retails stores as a clerk during these years, which she loved because she could visit with all kinds of people. Their retirement years brought them summers in Soda Springs with their loved ones, and winters in Bullhead City, Arizona where Dottie enjoyed the sun and desert. They spent 44 wonderful years together.

Dottie will always be remembered for her hard working ethics and her drive to complete anything she started. She worked hard to instill these qualities into her children and was pleased when she saw them grasp them. Her first love of her life was her family and her little black poodle, Frenchie. However, after her love for her family came her love to be outside working in her yard, and in her earlier days camping in the mountains. She also loved to sew and cook for anyone and everyone.

She is survived by her husband Larry, her five children and two step-daughters: Stacey Liechty, Garland, UT, Kris Phelps (Lee Schwendig), Pocatello, ID, J.R. (Gayle) Liechty, Soda Springs, ID, Mark (Coralee) Liechty, Soda Springs, ID, Dean (Kerry) Harris, Mendon, UT, Rose (Steve) Berquist, Preston, ID, and Dorci Harris, Idaho Falls, ID. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, four of her siblings and a sister-in-law: DeNora (Job) Miller, Tremonton, UT, Dodie LaMont, St. George, UT, Paul LaMont, Hyde Park, UT, Villa (Larry) Craig, Galt, CA, and Vicky (Lowell) Leiser, Hyrum, UT.

She was preceded in death by her parents, DeVere and Nora LaMont, and her brother Gordon LaMont, and a daughter-in-law Sherrill Liechty, and a sister-in-law Rusty Lamont.
