Duane Jay Bitton, 83, of Grace, ID passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

Duane Jay Bitton was born April 26, 1934 at Lago, Idaho. He was the third child of Louis Bingham and Eva Elizabeth Balls Bitton. He was preceded in death by his parents, older sister, LaVora White, brother-in-law Junior White, brother Junior Bitton, and two great grandsons. One brother, Keith (Judy) Bitton lives in Lago. Duane married Helen Lovene Mickelson on 8 January 1954, in the Logan, Utah L.D.S. temple. They are the parents of five children, Lianne (Van) Johnson Tetonia, Idaho, Louis (Delilah) Bitton, Lago, Idaho, Kathryn McBride, Smithfield, Utah, EvaJean (Eric) Simonson, Grace, Idaho, and Clark J. (Tina) Bitton, Lago, Idaho. Duane and Lovene also have 20 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

Duane served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Duane was a natural leader and loved to serve. He served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including Scout Master, Councilor and Bishop of the Williams Ward, and High Counselor in the Bannock Stake, (Grace, Idaho). He also served as manager for Gentile Valley Land and Cattle company for many years and as a director of the Eastern Idaho Land and Grazing Association also for many years. He loved to have his family around him and visit often.

The family would like to express their thanks to Edgewood Assisted Living for the love and care given to Dad and Mom during the past year.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 9 at Noon at the Thatcher -Williams Ward Chapel in Niter. Family will visit with friends on Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Church and also on Tuesday 10-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Lago Cemetery.
