Edsel M Prescott Rosales passed away August 12 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center at the age of nearly 100.
One of nine children she was born in Lago, Idaho October 23, 1918 to J Ed and Julia Marie Meacham. She married J Marvin Prescott in the Logan temple in 1937 and in 1939 began their family of four children, Marie P (D Paul) Jenkins, M Keith (Trudy) Prescott, Kathleen Ann (Jay) Koyle, David E Prescott leaving a posterity of 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren with two grandchildren preceding her in death.
Marvin passed away in 1988 and years later Edsel married a friend, Manuel Rosales, whom she'd met while playing in a band. She became very involved with his family of 12 children and grandchildren and basked in their achievements.
Edsel was very service and community minded. Her greatest joy besides her family was music oriented learning to play the piano listening to her sister's piano teacher as she was taught and began learning to play the organ for church services at the age of 9. She rendered many years of music service to family, friends, church and community through teaching, leading and providing opportunities for her children and other youth via ward and stake callings and setting an example of musical excellence through her love of music. Years of playing and organ in many capacities, weddings, receptions, church, funerals filled her days and evenings. She and Marvin taught their family a strong work ethic as they labored together on the dairy farm quite often singing and dancing with Marvin when there were opportune moments of time as they were working. She was the nucleus for many family and community parties in their home in Lago. She was a great cook and seamstress. After marrying Manuel they continued to enjoy playing in a band, the Country Clicks for many years until age curtailed their activities.
Funeral services will be held Friday August 17th at the Williams-Thatcher Church at 11:00 am where a viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 prior to the service.
