Obituary

Edwin Bradbury Smith, 94, of Soda Springs passed away on Wed., Dec. 31, 2014. Edwin was born on May 1, 1920 in Logan, Utah the son of Edwin Munk and Winifred Victoria Bradbury Smith. He graduated from Soda Springs High School and also attended Utah State Ag. College, where he played football during his freshman year. Edwin married his sweetheart Evah Dorthy Christensen on April 16, 1941 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. She passed away on March 22, 2009. They were married for 68 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served in various capacities including Bishop of the 1st Ward from May 1962- March 1968. He was a dedicated Stake Patriarch from 1984 until 2007. He blessed the lives of many people in his community. He also served two 6 month missions with his wife Evah in the San Jose Mission. He loved working alongside his family beginning with his father logging and running the sawmill, and later with his sons and grandsons in construction and paving. He was even able to operate an excavator for a few hours a week before he passed away. He also loved reading, building things in the shop, visiting with friends and family, and loved studying the sacred scriptures. Edwin will be remembered for the twinkle in his eye and mischievous little grin. Edwin is survived by his son Bryant (Donna) smith of Soda Springs, ID, a daughter Evelyn Heap of Freedom, WY, and 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Vaughn (Deon) Smith of Soda Springs, ID, three sisters, Enid Walters, Arnetta Sibbett and Cheryl Drier. He was preceded in death by a daughter, LaNette Smith Leavitt, a son, Kent Smith, a son-in-law Eugene Heap, a brother, Jerry Richard Smith and Sister Emma Jean Lakey. Also his mother Winifred Victoria Bradbury Smith, father Edwin Munk Smith, step-mother Veneta Rose Smith and step-sister Veloy Smith. Services will be held on Tues., Jan. 6, 2015 at Noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel. Family will visit friends on Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and Tues. 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Listen to service
