Elaine Burton Carter,75, of Thatcher, Idaho passed away on Monday January 5,2015. She succumbed to the effects of the medication used to treat her 14 year battle with cancer.
Elaine was born on May 2, 1939 in Grace, Idaho, the daughter of Robert J and Helen Burton.
She graduated from Grace High School where she was tormented by a boy who pulled her pig tails. She married that boy, Doug Carter on March 22, 1957 and they spent the next 57 years together. Elaine has lived in Seattle, Washington, Soda Springs, and the last 54 years in Thatcher, Idaho.
She enjoyed fall, hummingbirds, gardening, working on the Ranch , and her grandchildren. She was a Domestic Goddess that her children can only aspire to be like. Elaine was part of the welcoming and food committee for the Caribou County Fair, she worked at O.P Scaggs, was a cook at Thatcher Elementary, and also worked at Bailey's market where she enjoyed keeping up on current events.
She was a great example of service by taking care of several ladies of the valley.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in several callings; mutual president, compassionate service, and visiting teacher.
She is survived by her husband Doug Carter, Thatcher, Idaho, daughter Julie Ann Campbell, Roy, Utah, son Dwight (Sharon) Carter, Thatcher, Idaho, daughter Sandra( Blake) Garner, Farrwest, Utah, daughter Roxan(Jim) Trujillo, Boise, Idaho. Sisters Betty Stevens and Barbara Johnson, Brothers Jim Burton, Bob Burton and Carl Farnworth. 11 grandkids, 9 great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband's parents, three brother-in-laws, and a nephew.
Family will welcome friends on Saturday, January 10,2015 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at the Thatcher/Williams Ward Church, Niter, Idaho. Burial at the Thatcher Cemetery at 2 p.m., per Elaine's request there will be no public viewing or funeral services.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Franson and staff, all the nurses at Caribou memorial hospital, Dr.Vincent Hansen and staff, especially Jennifer, for their exceptional care.
