Obituary

Elaine Holbrook Christensen, 96, passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky on January 27, 2012. She was born on December 19, 1915 in the family home in Chesterfield, Idaho. Her birth was accompanied by her twin sister Wilda. Her parents were Jonathan Earl and Mamie Call Holbrook who were also parents of Lawrence, Lila, Florence, Wilda, Cal and Max.

Elaine attended high school in Bancroft, Idaho. Following high school she attended beauty school in Pocatello, Idaho. After completing that study she returned to Bancroft where she worked in a beauty shop. It was while working in Bancroft that she met Loma Edgar Dixon (Dick) whom she married on August 19, 1939. Dick worked for Union Pacific Railroad. They eventually settled in Montpelier, Idaho. Elaine and Dick were the proud parents of two daughters, Margean and Loma Gay. Dick passed away in 1958. Elaine married Matthew Williams in 1961. She worked for First Security Bank in Montpelier for several years. Matt died in 1976. Elaine married Alvin Christensen and moved to Grace, Idaho. After Alvin passed away she returned to Montpelier. She then lived with Margean in Lake Forest, California for a few years. In 2003, she moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she purchased a condominium near Loma Gay.

Elaine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions and especially enjoyed working in the library and singing in the choir. She loved to sing, read, and to do embroidery.

She is survived by daughters Margean Bijarchi (Iraj) and four grandsons: Dar (Donzaleigh), Bijan, Babak, and Turaj; and Loma Gay McCammon (James) and four grandsons: Michael (Colette), Aaron, Jared (Annie), Nathan (Jenna), and one granddaughter, Melissa. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Nolan, Katelyn, and William McCammon.

She is also survived by her twin sister, Wilda and brothers Max and Cal. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Florence, Lila and Lawrence, granddaughter, Anjanette McCammon, grandson, Mark McCammon and great-granddaughter, Natalie McCammon.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper LDS Chapel in Soda Springs, ID. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be at the Montpelier Cemetery at 2 p.m.
