Elizabeth "Betty" Lindstrom, 80; of Grays Lake and more recently of Iona, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 3, 2012 after a short illness.
She was born July 6, 1931 in Glen, Idaho. Their home was located up Jackknife in the Star Valley area. Her parents were John W. Thomas and Norma Lillian (Fulton). Norma passed away two weeks after Betty's birth due to complications of childbirth. Norma's sister Nina Hokanson and her husband Joe raised Betty along with their son Fulton. Her father John W. Thomas frequently visited Betty and due to poor health passed away when Betty was eight years old.
On may 7, 1947 she married Bernard Lindstrom and they had three children: Varden (Butch), Raelene and Dorene. Bernard and Betty ranched in Grays Lake for 70 years and then moved to Iona in 2008.
She is survived by her husband Bernard (age 90) of Iona; son, Butch (Fran) Lindstrom of Wayan, ID; daughters, Raelene (Mick) Humpherys of Layton, UT; Dorene (Joe) Shaffer of Iona, ID; brother, Fulton Hokanson of Cypress, CA; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren.
Tuesday evening there will be a viewing at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs (139 E. 2nd St.) from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Hooper L.D.S. Chapel (281 East Hooper Ave) in Soda Springs on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Noon with a viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
