Elnora "Nora" Lowe Maughan, 95; of Bancroft, Idaho passed away July 6, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.
Nora was born on July 30, 1914 in Grace, Idaho the third child and first daughter of Janet Burton and Matthias Wilson Lowe.
She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Grace High School.
Nora married her sweetheart Raymond Lloyd Maughan in the Logan Temple on October5, 1932. They were married for seventy wonderful years. They enjoyed traveling to many different places visiting family and friends. They attended the 1940 World's Fair in New York City. They also traveled to Europe in 1966 with family and friends, visiting England, France, Germany, Switzerland and Wales.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Primary, Sunday School, Young Women's and Relief Society organizations and was a faithful visiting teacher. She was also a member of the Relief Society Singing Mothers. She and her husband served for many years as Stake Family History Specialists.
She will always be remembered for her delicious homemade rolls and her seamstress and quilting abilities. She loved to do handwork, playing the organ and piano (which she did up until the time of her death). She was employed by the North Gem School District in the school lunch program for 12 years.
Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also took care of her elderly parents with much love and compassion.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters, Donal and Sarah Maughan, Idaho Falls, ID; Dell and DeAnn Maughan, Grace, Idaho; Berniel and Janey Maughan, Salt Lake City, UT; Clare and Lynn Bailey, Salt Lake City, UT; LaRae and George Millward, Pocatello, ID; Eileen and David Miranda of Blackfoot, ID. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and one brother Gail B. Lowe of Ephrata, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Maughan, who passed away on January 5, 2003; brothers Donal B. Lowe and Woodrow B. Lowe, and a sister, Afton Smith.
Services were held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Noon at the Bancroft LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Grace Cemetery.
