Velma (Eloise) McConkie, 92 passed away at her home in Soda Springs on June 11, 2023. She was born on April 22, 1931, to Girard and Janet Lallatin McConkie. She grew up and attended school in Soda Springs and that is where she lived for about 25 years. That is where she met and married Darwin S Caldwell. They were married on June 23, 1947. They lived around Soda Springs and Niter until 1959 when they moved to Arizona where they were involved in horse racing. They returned and lived in Paris Idaho until 1974 when they purchased a farm and moved to Chesterfield. In the mid-80s they spent the winters in Pleasanton California where Eloise cared for her elderly Aunt. It was there they got reconnected into horse racing and begin racing in Boise, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Evanston Wy and later returned to Phoenix and continued racing in the winters and spending their summers on their farm in Chesterfield. She worked for Dr Spencer Rich while living in Paris Idaho. She also worked at Walmart in the Housewares department until she retired at the age of 86. She then split her time between Arizona and Idaho.

She is survived by her children Debra Ferguson (Curt), Wendy Hobson, Kathy Passey, and Jared Caldwell, her brothers Jerry McConkie and Doug McConkie, and her sisters Lorene Bews and Nancy Hewitt. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Darwin Caldwell, and her parents Girard and Janet Lallatin McConkie, granddaughter Tiffani Thomas, and great-granddaughter Kayla Luker.

Funeral services will be held at Sim's Funeral Home in Soda Springs, with a viewing at 11:00 – 12:00 and services following the viewing. She will be interred at the Soda Springs Cemetery.
