Emma Mary Hirsbrunner Burton, 91; of Soda Springs passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs.
Emma was born May 24, 1919 in Winslow, Illinois the daughter of John and Marie Zumbrunn Hirsbrunner.
She and her family lived in Illinois until she was 4 years old and then them moved to a farm in Woodriver Valley near Gannett, Idaho. Latter her family moved to Grays Lake, Idaho where her father made cheese.
Emma married Lloyd Holmes Burton on July 19, 1936 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He passed away on December 24, 1971.
After she was married and the birth of her first two daughters, the family moved to Emmett, Idaho for a few months and then moved back to Soda Springs.
She attended the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church, Lutheran Church and LDS Church in Soda Springs.
She loved her Grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, handwork, genealogy, baking. She also enjoyed animals and especially small dogs.
Emma is survived by a twin brother, Walter Hirsbrunner of Soda Springs, ID; two daughters, Edie (Jerry) Bush of Soda Springs, ID; and Lilli Marie Nell of Soda Springs, ID. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Lois Jean (Roy) Thorn, one grandson, two great-granddaughters, a sister Clara Shuler and two brothers, John Hirsbrunner and Fred Hirsbrunner.
Services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church at Noon. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home prior to going to the church for services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
