Obituary

Evelyn McCammon of Grace passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Edgewood Spring Creek Manor surrounded by angels and family at her side.

She was born on September 22, 1915 the first child of Albert and Helen Olson in Star Valley Wyoming.

She married John McCammon on March 17, 1933; he courted her in a buggy pulled by a team of matching horses. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on May 23, 1939. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in 1986. John passed away in August of that same year.

Evelyn was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving through her life as a primary teacher, visiting teacher, Webelos leader, Relief Society President, extraction for genealogy and as a temple worker for five years. She was also a member of the DUP and a member of the Friendship Club with some of her treasured Conda friends.

She stayed busy with her many interests. She loved traveling, crocheting, quilting, crafts, making many items for her family which they treasure, one of her favorite memories is the cruise she, her sisters and nieces took to Mexico when she was 90. Friends and family loved her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls she would make for them. She also loved people and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her children, Keith McCammon of Grace, ID; Max (Polly) McCammon of Bancroft, ID; Gerrold (Mary Ann) of Mexico; Beverley (Earl) Hemmert of Layton, UT; Carole (Ron) Hegstrom of Grace, ID; Kim (June) of Smithfield, UT. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and also her sister Blanche Bowles of West Valley, UT, and three brothers, Virgil Olson of Salmon, ID; Dallas (Shirley) Olson of Salmon, ID; Lynn Olson of Riverton, WY; and sister-in-law Verla Olson of Logan, UT. She was precede in death by her husband John, her parents, a daughter Yulene, one sister Eva and Glen Fluckinger and three brothers Ralph, Rex, Delos and Ann Olson, a beloved sister-in-law Mary Olson, brother-in-law Corwin Bowles.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Grace Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Afton Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

In-lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Grace Library District or to the LDS Church for the construction of the Star Valley Temple.
