Frank H. Stoddard, 87, of Grace, passed away peacefully at his home with his family surrounding him on Monday, November 5, 2012. Frank was born in Egin, Idaho on November 25, 1924, to Lucille Ingram and Leslie Marion Stoddard. He was the sixth of ten children.
Frank was a graduate of South Fremont High School and the Naval Radio School at the University of Wisconsin. He also attended LDS Business College and Rick's College. He served in the United States Navy for 2 ½ years and was assigned to the U.S.S. Stanley DD 478 in Okinawa, Japan. He was blessed to survive an attack on his ship by 8 kamikaze airplanes, 2 of which collided with his ship.
Frank married Donna Lloyd on January 25, 1952, in the Idaho Falls temple, and together they had 2 children: Debra and Curtis. Frank spent his life in agriculture as a seed potato grower. He was inducted into the Eastern Idaho Agricultural Hall of Fame on March 21, 1997, and the Idaho Potato Hall of Fame on January 17, 2001. He was also a recipient of the Lifetime Seed Grower Achievement Award.
Frank was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a full-time missionary in the Western Canadian Mission. He was a Bishop, Stake President, Regional Representative, and Sealer in the Logan Temple. He and Donna served a mission at the Nauvoo, Illinois temple where Frank also served as a Sealer.
Frank was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was selfless in his service to all and will be dearly missed. Frank is survived by his wife, Donna Lloyd, of Grace; 2 children: Debra (Royce) Pollock, of Panguitch, Utah, and Curtis (Jane) Stoddard, of Grace; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Frank is also survived by 3 brothers: Harold (Norma) Stoddard, of Rexburg; Marion (Blanch) Stoddard, of Egin; Luis Stoddard, of Egin; and 2 sisters: Phillis Bradshaw, of Menan; and Vae Mace, of Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Grace LDS Stake Center in Grace, Idaho. The family will meet with friends at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, and on Friday prior to the services from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
