IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gene
Swena
August 12, 1943 – July 30, 2020
In true Pugga fashion, always punctual and usually early, his worn out and much used heart gave out after a lifetime of being the most supportive grandfather imaginable. He left this Earth unexpectedly on Thursday July 30, 2020, Gene Swena, loving husband, father, and "Pugga" of three granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren, passed away at the age of 76.
Gene was born on August 12, 1943 in Francis, Utah to Edna (Kirkham) and Burt Swena.
Gene served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from March 1962 to September 1966. His time served and experiences in the military instilled a deep love of country and patriotism that he proudly shared with his posterity.
In the year 1966 Gene and Nancy's wild love was born in Park City, Utah when Gene hoodwinked her into thinking he was a gentleman, and they've been inseparable ever since. Then, in 1995, he accomplished his "proudest personal achievement" which was getting sealed to his best friend, Nancy, in the Las Vegas, Nevada Temple.
He spent some of his best years in Grace, Idaho, becoming everyone's Grandpa, by supporting the community through attending almost every sporting event since the year 2000, being a member of the American Legion, and supplying every child he came across with some form of candy.
In a recent conversation with one of his great-grandchildren, when asked what legacy he would like to be known for, he said, "I'm hoping to be known for being a good grandpa and a good great-grandpa."
He is survived by his best friend Nancy, his brother Allen, his daughter Kelli (Dwight), his three granddaughters', Megan (Dustin), Natalie (Brice), Sierra (Bridger), and seven great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Cy, Brittain, Beckett, Eleanor, Cutler, and Jack. Preceded in death by parents Burton and Edna Swena, brothers Marvin and Stephen Swena, and great-granddaughter Blakelee Anderson.
