Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" C Maughan, 80, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, UT.

Jerry was born on January 8, 1934 in Soda Springs, Idaho the son of William Guy Redford and Laura Pearl Cornelison Maughan.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Jerry attended college at Idaho State University and earned a Bachelor Degree in Geology and also attended Utah State University where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. He worked on the Arizona Canal Project and Freeways in Utah and California. He held licenses from the State Board of Geologists and Engineers for Utah, Idaho and Arizona.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served as High Priest Group Leader, Stake Missionary and enjoyed attending the Temple.

He enjoyed fishing and singing. He loved football and basketball in High School and enjoyed being in High School and Community Plays.

He married Janette Schenk on June 9, 1955 in Idaho Falls, ID. They were later divorced.

He is survived by three sons and six daughters, Daniel (LaNae) Maughan of San Diego, CA, Kevin Maughan of Rigby, ID, Bill Maughan of Rigby, ID, Joy (Dave) Lambert of St. George, UT, Janelle (Jeff) Jardine of Twin Falls, ID, Dorothy (Tony) Workman of Syracuse, UT, Marci (Dondee) Nettles of Waddell, AZ, Christi Faught of Mesquite, NV, Emily (Chris) Hanson of Ridgefield, WA. He is also survived by 30 Grandchildren and 16 Great-grandchildren, two brothers, Rex (Ruth) Maughan, Brent (Alene) Maughan and a sister, Sue Maughan Spinella. He was preceded in death by a son Jeran "Q" Maughan, granddaughter Courtney Patricia Brangham and Janette Schenk Maughan.

He married Evelyn Ann Hancock Chapman on July 24, 1986 in Phoenix, AZ. They were later divorced.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Noon at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, ID. The family will visit with friends on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 11:45 at the Sims Funeral Home.
