Obituary

Geraldine Richards Bjorkman passed quietly from this earthly life on the morning of December 23, 2016. She was surrounded by her loving family, her husband, their daughters and sons-in-law. Gerry was born to Lionel A and Mayme Elizabeth Lau Richards in Soda Springs, Idaho on December 1, 1920, the eldest of four children. She spent her childhood and attended elementary school in Conda, Idaho. She attended high school in Soda Springs, Idaho, graduating in 1938. After graduation, Gerry moved to Pocatello where she attended Idaho State College, later moving to Salt Lake City to attend Stevens-Henager Business college. Although she always wanted a nursing career, she ultimately focused on business. Gerry married Norman Bjorkman in Las Vegas, NV on October 15, 1949. Norm and Gerry built a home in Soda Springs and raised three daughters there. Together they owned and operated Soda Spring Sheet Metal. Her study in business provided the foundation necessary to take care her responsibilities for the business. In addition to running the business and raising their daughters, Gerry delighted in her many friends and activities such as golfing, swimming, gardening, playing bridge and music. Gerry was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gerry will be sincerely missed by her husband of 66+ years, Norm; her daughters, Diana (George) Harestad-Williams, Shelly (Steve) Seamons, and Pam (Doyle) Petersen. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Gerry's family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the wonderful care givers at The Gables Assisted Living Center and Heritage Home Health & Hospice in Pocatello who loved, cared for, and treated her with such kindness and respect. We all love you! Services will be held on Thursday, December 29 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper LDS Chapel in Soda Springs. Family will visit with friends on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Listen to service
