Obituary

Gladys Marie Isle Hildreth was born 30 October, 1921 in Evanston, WY to Willis and Lula Isle. She was the youngest of four children; with 2 sisters and 1 brother. Gladys moved with her parents to Ogden, UT where they were later divorced. She and her mother moved to Soda Springs, ID when Gladys was about 10 years old. They lived in the Fryer Hotel until her mother married Lee Shelp in 1933. Gladys attended elementary, JR. High and High School in Soda Springs. She married LaViel J. Hildreth on August 9, 1938 in Randolph, UT. To this union was born three sons, Steven, Larry and Richard. During their 69 years of marriage they lived mostly in Soda Springs, except for about 2 years in the Los Angeles area where LaViel worked for Lockheed and Goodyear Rubber. They then returned to Soda Springs where he was drafted into the Navy. After his service ended he returned to his family where they spent the rest of their married life. Gladys was very active in the Presbyterian Church during her lifetime. She was a Sunday School Teacher, she sang in the choir and was active in the Presbyterian Women's Group. She could always be counted on to help anyone who needed it. She helped with the bazaar for years and ended up doing a lot of things no one else wanted to do, like washing dishes for church dinners and such. She was a cake decorator for many years as can be witnessed by numerous couples in the surrounding area. She greatly enjoyed creating these beautiful works of art for happy couples starting out their married life. Gladys and LaViel enjoyed traveling south for the warmer weather in their later years. For about 12 years they wintered in Yuma, Arizona with friends and other members of their family. They liked the warm weather there, and Gladys learned many new craft ideas and met new friends. She was very proud of the fact that her husband and all three sons served in the military. They have always been a very patriotic family. She won first place in a military contest and got to ride on a float during the 4th of July parade a few years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters and 1 brother. She has 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is survived by 3 sons: Steven (Lee) Hildreth of Idaho Falls, ID, Larry (Maxine) Hildreth of Soda Springs, ID and Richard (Susan) Hildreth of Clinton, UT. Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at Noon at the Presbyterian Church. Family will visit friends on Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. and on Monday 10:30-11:30 at Funeral Home prior to services. Listen to service
