Grant Junior Nelson, our Beloved Husband, Dad and Grandpa passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 26, 1930 in Smithfield, UT the son of Ray F. and Clara Matthews Nelson.
Grant grew up in Clifton, Idaho on the family farm where he loved his horses and a good ride. He spent countless hours exploring and hunting for game.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Conflict as a communication specialist.
Grant married the love of his life Lila Joy Peterson on December 28, 1955 and together they raised three boys or maybe they raised him.
He worked for Mountain Bell as a telephone repairman and retired after 36 years to run the family farm.
Grant enjoyed snowmachining, hunting and fishing. He was also an instructor for a Youth NRA Club for a period of time in his younger days. He was instrumental in setting up the Idaho Fish and Wildlife Federation which he was president of for many years. He was a Jaycee and very active in the Masonic Rite (Caribou Lodge #84) for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife Lila of Soda Springs, ID, and three sons, Lynn and Shirley Nelson of Vaughn, MT, Randy and Lori Nelson of Grace, ID, Larry and Donna Nelson of Broomfield, CO, and also 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
As Grant requested, he was cremated and Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
