Obituary

Harry Ridge, 93, died peacefully Thursday Feb. 4, 2010 in Soda Springs, ID. Harry was born November 13, 1916 in Knightsville, UT to Harry Daniel and Viola Koyle Edwards. After his mother's death he was adopted by John and Amelia Ridge.


Harry spent his youth in Las Vegas Nevada. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII and then graduated from LDS Business College. He married Fern Bodily of Burley ID and to this union was born DeLayne (Jack) Yasaitis, Idaho Falls ID, Ronald Ridge, Auberry, CA, Kevan (Pam) Ridge, Paul, ID. After Fern's death Harry married Zalia Johnson in the Manti Temple. The family grew to include Alonna (Mark) Randall, Tempe, AZ, daughter Heather (Dave) Wilson, Rupert, ID and son, Harry David Ridge. In 1996 Harry married Helen Rae Larsen and resided in Soda Springs, ID until his death.


Harry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a high counselor, counselor in several bishoprics and an outstanding ward clerk and executive secretary as well as an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple. He enjoyed reading, traveling, listening to great music and viewing beautiful artwork. He was an outstanding teacher and loved to learn. Harry was a master organizer. He was an excellent car salesman and worked for Hanzel Chevrolet and Larson Chevrolet in Rupert for many years. He was known all over Southern Idaho as "Happy Harry"! He was a champion and friend to all people. Being charitable to the downtrodden and disadvantaged was a hallmark of his life. He endured patiently to the end.


Harry was preceded in death by his wives, Fern and Zalia, parents, siblings, grandson Richard Ridge and beloved son, Harry David Ridge. He is survived by his wife Helen Rae, five children, twenty three grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.


Services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper LDS 4th Ward Chapel in Soda Springs. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Burley Pleasant View Cemetery.
