Obituary

Hazel Irene Lish, 95, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs, Idaho with her family and nurses at her side. Hazel was born August 26, 1917 in Salmon, Idaho to James and Ella Crippen Pugh. She married Irvin Lish on May 20, 1935 in Dillon, Montana. He passed away July 26, 1979. Hazel grew up in Hayden Creek in the Lemhi Valley and also the Pahsimeroi Valley and Patterson, Idaho; Yucca, Arizona; Soda Springs and Conda, Idaho. She attended Lemhi County Elementary and Leadore High School. Hazel was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eagles in Salmon, Idaho and was associated with the Old Time Fiddlers. Mom always told us to "Just Carry On." She loved raising African violets. She was an avid horseman in her younger days, having and loving horses. Most of all she loved her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her many friends and caregivers. She admired her great-grandson, Justin, for the way he faced life after the accident that left him forever in a wheel chair. She loved Matt for the love he showed her, transferring her to and from family gatherings and dinners. Hazel loved crosswords, crocheting, fishing, and was a terrific cook. She enjoyed hunting trips and square dancing. She and Irvin belonged to a square dance group while living in Patterson, Idaho. She also enjoyed watching professional Bull Riding on the TV and listening to the Soda Springs Cardinals play football on the radio; always cheering on her two quarterback great-grandsons, Kaedyn and Kailyn Duncan and Running Back "Moe." She was proud of her two police officer grandson and great-grandson, Justin and Brock. Hazel is survived by 2 sons and one daughter: Cleo James "Jim" Lish of Salmon, Idaho; Donald "Jay" LIsh of Soda Springs, Idaho; Glenna Smith of Soda Springs, Idaho. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-Grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Donald Pugh and Wilma Bramlette both of Salmon, Idaho, and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one baby boy, Irvin Dean; a step-son, Sheldon Lish; brothers, John and Adrian Pugh; sisters, Leola Honeyman, Dorothy Love, Ella Anderson and Margaurite Cathers. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Smith, a grandson Lance Lish and a great-grandson Tyson Lopez. Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Thursday, March 21 at the Sims Funeral Home, 139 E. 2nd S. Soda Springs, Idaho. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home prior to services on Thursday from 11:00-Noon. A visitation will also be held on Monday, March 25 at Noon at the Jones and Casey Funeral Home, 501 Lena St., Salmon, Idaho prior to going to the Salmon Cemetery for Burial at 1:00 p.m. Listen to service:
