Howard Denzil Johnson, 81; of Grace passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Soda Springs at the Caribou Memorial Living Center.
Howard was born March 14, 1930 the son of George Denzil and Neva Thomas Johnson in Grace, Idaho.
After he graduated from High School he served in the United States Air Force.
He married Florence Rasmussen on July 12, 1949 in Grace, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. While serving in the Air Force they lived in Waco, Texas.
They also lived in Logan, Utah and the last several years in Grace, Idaho.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had served as Bishop, High Council and various other positions.
He served on the City Counsel and was also a member of the School Board.
Howard enjoyed horses, fishing, singing and Utah Jazz basketball.
He is survived by his wife Florence of Grace, ID; three sons and one daughter, David and Betsy Johnson of Round Rock, TX; Van and Lianne Johnson of Tetonia, ID; Lance Johnson of Grace, ID; Jill and Neils Peterson of Orem, UT. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Clyde Johnson and Phil Johnson and one sister, Maxine Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Glenn Johnson and a niece Shelley and a baby daughter.
Services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening at the Stake Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.
