Hyrum "HY" Smith McLain, 88; of Bancroft passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs. Hyrum was born September 10, 1923 in Bancroft, Idaho the son of Calvert David and Mary Loretta Smith McLain. He lived Bancroft for 86 1/2 years. He lived in Soda Springs for 1 1/2 years and he spent 3 years in the United States Navy. Hyrum is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Rocky Mountain Cutter Association. Hyrum married Ramona Buchmiller. They were later divorced. Hyrum married Doris Jean McNealy on April 12, 1980 in Elko, Nevada. He enjoyed cutter racing and horse racing. Hyrum is survived by his wife, Doris Jean of Bancroft, ID; three sons, Kevin McLain of Idaho Falls, ID; Michael and Penny Jenkins of Rigby, ID; Marlon Jenkins of Bancroft, ID; and six daughters, Barbara and Jim Creer of Richland, WA; Shirley McLain of Idaho Falls, ID; Teresa and Don Stevens of Idaho Falls, ID; Michelle Hunter of Fort Collins, CO; Trish and George Hulse of Bancroft, ID; Cathy Baker of Soda Springs, ID. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren and one sister Eva Moderzitski, of Bancroft, ID. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. and one step-son. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Bancroft LDS Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services.
